Corinth Pipeworks has further strengthened its long-standing collaboration with ArcelorMittal, reinforcing a shared commitment to delivering sustainable, high-performance steel solutions for the evolving needs of the energy sector. For the first time, Corinth Pipeworks is using XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel, a low carbon-emissions steel, in its production of energy pipes. Both companies have now announced this at the international Tube Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The collaboration reflects the joint ambition of both companies to actively contribute to the energy transition by enabling the development of resilient, low-carbon infrastructure. By combining Corinth Pipeworks’ advanced manufacturing capabilities with ArcelorMittal’s leadership in low carbon-emissions steel production, the partnership supports the delivery of pipeline solutions with a significantly reduced environmental footprint, suitable for both conventional and emerging energy applications, including hydrogen transportation.

XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel is a low carbon-emissions steel made in an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) with minimum 75% scrap content and with 100% renewable electricity. This production process reduces CO2 emissions by 65% compared with the traditional steelmaking route in a blast furnace. XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel also supports customers in lowering indirect (Scope 3) emissions and reinforces a low-carbon, circular economy.

“ArcelorMittal is proud to contribute to the transition to low-emissions energy systems by supplying our reduced-emissions steel, produced with our Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology. Leveraging high recycled-scrap input and tightly controlled metallurgical processes, we provide high-performance steels that are immediately available to support the decarbonization of tomorrow’s energy infrastructure,” comments Gonzalo Delgado, CMO Industry Region South at ArcelorMittal Europe -Flat Products.

Sustainability remains a core pillar of Corinth Pipeworks’ strategy, with a strong focus on value-chain transparency, circular economy principles and the continuous adoption of innovative, reduced-emission production processes. Through such initiatives, the company enhances the environmental performance of its products while maintaining the highest standards of quality, reliability and operational excellence.
“Our collaboration with ArcelorMittal reflects a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. By integrating low carbon-emissions steel solutions into our production processes, we actively support our customers in building next-generation energy networks, aligned with global decarbonisation goals,” said Ilias Bekiros, General Manager of Corinth Pipeworks.

Driving sustainable energy infrastructure
The continued collaboration between Corinth Pipeworks and ArcelorMittal highlights their role as trusted partners in the development of sustainable energy infrastructure. Through technological excellence, responsible sourcing and a shared sustainability driven approach, both companies contribute to accelerating the transition towards a low-carbon energy future while ensuring security and reliability of supply.
