Corinth Pipeworks has been selected as a contractor by Northern Endurance Partnership, for an offshore pipeline to transport and store millions of tons of carbon dioxide  (CO2) emissions safely in the UK North Sea to an offshore geological storage site named the Endurance Store.

Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP), a joint venture between bp, Equinor, and TotalEnergies, is the CO2 transportation and storage provider for the East Coast Cluster (ECC). The infrastructure will serve the Teesside-based carbon capture projects – NZT Power, H2Teesside and Teesside Hydrogen CO2 Capture. NEP aims to support the United Kingdom’s Net Zero commitments by developing the world’s first zero-carbon industrial hub by 2030.

Final contract award will be subject to receipt of regulatory clearances and final investment decisions (FID) being taken in September 2024 or earlier.

Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) is a critical sector in the quest for mitigating climate change and plays a pivotal role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, offering a transitional solution while renewable energy sources are further developed. As nations strive to meet ambitious emission reduction targets, CCUS emerges as a key technology to address the environmental challenges associated with fossil fuel use, fostering a more sustainable future.

The global carbon capture, utilization and storage market is projected to scale significantly in the next years and is expected a 4-times increase by 2030. Market growth is attributed to increasing adoption of technology from various end-use industries including Oil & Gas and Power generation while governments globally are encouraging such initiatives to achieve the carbon emissions targets.

Corinth Pipeworks' General Manager, Ilias Bekiros, stated:” Innovative CCUS projects such as NEP will be vital, both to global energy producers and large industrial companies to achieve important sustainability targets.  Corinth Pipeworks is committed to work alongside with  our partners and other stakeholders to support this technically challenging offshore pipeline scope.”
